I pretty much hate my sister right now!
omg, ok, so my sister is DEFINATELY in the kitchen baking a CAKE!!! doesn’t she know that I have little to no will power when it comes to easy to grab sweets?? wow, I just want to kick her little butt right now! we are going to have a cake sitting around the house for a few days now, and me and my dad are trying to lose weight! this is some evil temptation! I’ll try my best to stay away from this, because I know that even 1 piece has the potential to ruin a whole days’ effort…and we all no that you can’t have just one! oh well, I guess I’ll just have to settle for some carrot sticks whenever I am wanting a piece of this cake!
Dieting sucks sometimes!

Stay strong!! If you can overcome a few of these challenges you will be that much stronger. Kind of like when people quit smoking. When I quit some of my friends, coworkers and even family would smoke around me and even offer it during stressful times, but I have learned those times are the most important to keep away from it. I worked with a girl who had been overweight for a while and she decided she was going to lose the weight and start working out right before Thanksgiving! Well she told me she was STARVING at the table that day she wanted stuffing so bad -but she did not give in and she looked INCREDIBLE in a few weeks. She was very pretty to begin with, but the weightloss just totally made everything jump out at you. She did some really good body sculpting too her legs were stunning. Well that goes to show you what sticking to your routine and staying focused can do for you. Good luck!!
My mother does this to me! I hate it! Try just sneaking little pieces here and there…rather than a slice here and there. I find that I can spread a whole serving throughout the day. : ) But that’s just me…I’m weird!
I do this to myself! I love to bake since I can’t cook very well. And I decorate cakes. Does not make for a good combo. Good luck with staying away. I’m sure you can do it.
You know, this is real life and there will always be chocolate cake to deal with.
It’s not going to help to put the blame on others because we ourselves have problems resisting. There will be a million more times we will stand in front of temptation and have to make a decision about whether to eat it or not.
Sometimes it’s a mind game to play. Resisting and thinking that eating carrot sticks is somehow going to work would make me so defiant and resentful that I’d breakdown soon enough and gorge on what I denied myself. It’s so predictable that I can count on it to happen. Willpower is fickle.
Another way to deal with it is to be gut-level honest with yourself and think it through. Do you really want to feel this way every time you see a goody? Do you really want to keep the overeating and dieting cycles going forever? Do you really believe that by losing weight you will never gain it again and all your problems will be over? What is your personal truth?
Making choices because they benefit me and make me feel good is what really works. When I take the time to really understand that there will always be cake and I have to decide whether a moment’s pleasure is worth it or I can concentrate on my everyday health for long term pleasure. I will always have a choice about it. So do you!
Sending positive thoughts your way!
Hope you’ve hung in there and resisted the temptation! My sister is a bean-pole and can get away with such things, while I even SMELL the sweets and put on a few pounds. Why is this?? But- I do know from past experience that there is nothing quite like resisting something that you would love to eat! The feeling of accomplishment when it’s over and you’ve maintained your stand of resistance…. well… it’s just motivating!! It says to you, and your sister, dad…whomever you live with.. that “I’m serious about this!!” So hang in there buddy! (Although I see now that you typed this on the third of Feb, which means when this little message arrives to you that the cake is either a.) gone, or b.)3 days old and no longer the ultimate temptation! :0>
